Introducing Tapestry

We have now introduced a new online learning journal for all our children at Rockers and Rollers.

This great new feature means staff are able to do observation on the children via iPads and the load straight on to each child’s secure online learning journals, then parents and relatives get an email, so they are able to instantly view the observation and write comments. Parents can also make observations from home.

We have had some great feedback from our parents so far.

Rockers and Rollers visit Tesco

In our role play areas we have enjoyed pretending to work in a shop, so we asked Tesco if we could come for a visit to see what a real supermarket was like.

We all got to have a look around the shop and see what things you could buy. We saw how the bread was made….and even got to have a try. We got to look at the warehouse and even went upstairs.

Bobby the lamb comes to play

This week we had a visit from Bobby the lamb. He really enjoyed meeting all the children, who have been able to take him for walks on his lead and feed him his milk. Bobby loved looking at himself in the mirror.

Spring time growing

All the children have enjoyed taking part in planting activities over the last couple of weeks. We have created a very exciting new herb garden with all different sorts of herbs for the children to smell. Ronnie has been using them to make some yummy dinners.

We have also started planting our vegetables, we are watering them every day, it’s very exciting to see them grow. We can’t wait to taste them.

World Book Week

What a fantastic week the whole nursery had last week. To celebrate we had children dressing up as their favourite book character, eating porridge with the three bears, ginger bread man making and sharing our favourite books from home to name just a few.

Babies get cooking

The babies have been very busy this week, exploring lots of different ingredients, used to make biscuits. They have explored using their hands…and mouths of course, even cracking eggs on the table. With a little help from Kate and Hollie they managed to make some yummy biscuits to take home.

Toddlers get cooking

Today the toddlers have been busy making muffin pizza’s for our tea, they were very yummy.

Rockers and Rollers visit the police station

January 14, 2014

Well what a busy day we had on Friday. We all took a walk around the corner to the police station. When we got there we met George’s Daddy who is a policeman, he let us all try on different sorts of police hats. Next we all had a go at doing our finger prints. Then we had a walk around the station, we found the cells and decided to lock Ronnie in, then we thought we had better let her out otherwise we wouldn’t get any more yummy dinners. Finally we went outside to see the cars and vans, we all got to have a go at driving, guess who put the sirens on……………..RONNIE!

Pre-School visit the post office

Well what an exciting morning the pre-school have had. After a very busy week writing our letters to Father Christmas, the Friday children went to visit to the post office to deliver their letters. The post man popped the letters into a special sack for the North Pole, then the children had a look around.

Zoo Lab visit our Pre-School

We had a room full of very excited pre-schoolers on Monday morning, as we anticipated the arrival of the one and only Speedy the Snail. After a not so speedy arrival, we were amazed by all the different animals friends that Speedy introduced us to. There was the stick insect, cockroach, spider, corn snake, rat and a toad. We had lots of fun and some of us were even brave enough to touch some of the animals.
